Customer Reviews:
5 out of 5 stars A must have   March 15, 2010

A must have item as it makes the fantastic Pure radio's even better still! Total portability and the battery pack is advanced battery technology. Considering the high current drain of DAB radios, the battery pack does its job perfectly.

5 out of 5 stars A Brilliant Product   March 14, 2010

I have used the Evoke 3 daily for more than 3 years with the original battery pack ( C6x) , charging it 2 or 3 times a week. Well over 300 discharge/charge cycles. I have just replaced the pack with the C6L and if I get a similar life from it I will be delighted.

4 out of 5 stars Much better than rechageable batteries   February 26, 2010
M. Bass (Belfast UK)
I got a pure one a while ago and have been running it off rechargeable batteries for some time, but a few weeks ago I eventually gave in and bought a chargepak. In short it is a far better and I wish I'd invested in one earlier.
The problem with rechargeables is that they are designed to run at about 1.2 volts rather than the 1.5 of normal batteries, so with 6 of these we're 1.8 volts under the radio's preferred power supply. Fully charged they'll be above this, but after a few hours running the voltage inevitably drops below the radio's threshold and it turns off. I have checked the batteries after this and there's still plenty of juice left in them, just not enough voltage for the radio. I did use very high capacity Duracell and energiser batteries along with a high spec charger so there was nothing wrong with my equipment.
The chargepak is obviously designed specifically for these radios and gives the full 9 volt output until it goes flat, therefore giving you far more listening hours than with the batteries. The best thing about it though is that you can keep it plugged in all the time and just turn on the mains supply when it needs charged - Means I don't have to listen to the annoying buzzing of the transformer all the time! You can't do this with the batteries - if the lead is in it won't switch on unless the mains is switched on. Now I never have to move the radio. The battery pack mustn't lose its charge too quickly either, I use my radio regularly, but for quite short periods of time, but still got about a month out of it before needing charged.
My only issue with it is the price. Seems as little expensive for all it is, especially compared to the price of the radio. I left it for a while to see if the price would go down, but it hasn't. Just buy it and you'll not look back.

When I bought the DAB radio, didn't realise that it needed an expensive battery pack. Wanted a radio to take around the house. It works fine, but is rather a lot of money to save the planet.

5 out of 5 stars Chargepak   February 17, 2010
Mr. J. S. Human
Contary to what i read in some reviews i found it very easy to fit. I've had this now for about a month and only needed to recharge once. Yes its costly, but in the long run it'll prove its worth. I recommend it.
