I was, as others have commented before me, sceptical about the quality of this item. I've not had the best experience when buying non-Canon equipment, but this is fantastic. The only issue I have (and I must stress that this is a very minor one) is that the jog dial feels odd in comparison to the jog dial on the camera. But, the build quality seems to be very good, my camera fits on it perfectly (no wobbling), and it just works exactly how I would want it to.

This grip is identical in texture, quality and function to the Canon version I bought a couple of years ago for the 350D. I suspect Opteka make the grips for Canon and the branding is left off for their sales to the open market. Amazingly, it is 65% of the Canon version. Amazing? Well knowing Canon, perhaps not.
A must for your Canon 450D, 500D or 1000D, plus it comes with 2 batteries which seem to perform well, but early days on that.

Thought to myself, that looks a handy piece of kit. Ordered it on Tuesday 13:00hrs. Thursday 13:00hrs delivered, fitted to my 500d and in use by 14:00hrs. Everything that I hoped it would be. I'm now getting used to using it and considering that I am not the most savvy of photographers I am finding it easy. First impressions are it's great! If you need/want a battery grip this is the one to get.

This is a well made product that is every bit as good in look and feel as the canon original. I improves the balance of the EOS 500D and I am very pleased with it. The service from the US was speedy and delivered ahead of schedule. I would buy Opteka accessories in the future.

I bought my new Cannon 450D just before Christmas but thought it needed a battery pack as I had one with my last Cannon. I read all the reviews about the Opteka battery pack and on receiving it have found all the reviews to be so true and more.
(i) 3 days from order to delivery from USA to NI. Unbelievable!
(ii) quality of manufacture and feel of product outstanding!
(iii) price excellent value for money!
All this plus 2 batteries and a free gift of camera/lens cleaning kit.
The information leaflet was so easy to follow. Camera was up and running in a matter of minutes. I would highly recommend this product to everyone.
