| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description Powerful and versatileWhether youTre indoors, out in nature or taking it easy somewhere else on holiday, the SP-590UZ is the ideal camera for shooting every aspect of your surroundings without the need to lug around loads of equipment. It stands alone in its ability to capture subjects from great distances thanks to its bright 26x wide optical zoom equivalent to 26-676mm on a 35mm camera. At the racetrack this makes it easy to get impressive close-up shots of your favourite drivers celebrating their win even if youTre up in the bleacher seats. Furthermore, the wide angle of view lets photographers record more of the action in a single image. And with the optional TCON-17N Teleconverter and CLA-11 Adapter Ring, the SP-590UZ can reach unparalleled magnifications of up to 1149mm. Add to this the 5x digital zoom and the total magnification factor hits a phenomenal 130x or 3380mm.Zooming prowess is not the SP-590UZTs only claim to fame, however. For those with a real need for speed, the SP-590UZ features ultra-high-speed shooting: up to 10fps will let you make the call when the race is truly a ophoto finish_! Meanwhile, down in pit lane, photographers will really appreciate this modelTs Super Macro mode. It allows detailed close-ups to be taken from just 1cm.Brilliant, high-quality imagesThe 12 Megapixel SP-590UZ offers a broad range of functions and features to improve results and enhance the overall photo experience. Dual Image Stabilisation compensates for camera shake to ensure the sharpest images possible, even at the tele end of the focal range. In addition, Advanced Face Detection Technology recognises the faces of subjects for perfect focus and exposure, while Shadow Adjustment Technology ensures optimal contrast in images. With Multiple Exposure mode, two images can be combined to create an overlapped composite photo. And Beauty Mode automatically smoothes the skin of subjects to make the skin tone of faces appear more even and vibrant.Ease of use and creative

Rubbish In Low Light Conditions July 8, 2010 Just2Fish (UK) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Having just replaced a smaller Olympus with the same but second hand model of the same (I broke mine) you can tell I'm a fan of Olympus. But I wish that I had never bought the Olympus SP-590 UZ, it's lousy in low light conditions, even a dull day, and given that we live in the UK that's no good. My other OLympus, a 4 mega pixel 10x zoom, Olympus C770, does better on all but the brightest of days.
Think before you buy February 15, 2010 Christine Hosey 12 out of 14 found this review helpful
The only real thing this camera has going for it is it's powerful zoom lens, but that is at the expense of other features that I think are more necessary if you are serious about your photography. Aperture settings are the biggest draw back, only going from f2.8 to f.8, on a really bright day it can be hard to get any kind of image taken as too much light is getting in. Changing the settings can be time consuming as it is all done via the screen, especially difficult for manual focus! And as for batteries, invest is some really good rechargeables (at least two sets) and a good fast charger as this camera eats batteries for a pass time! With hindsight I would not have bought this camera, if you are not that serious about your photography, get a good quality compact digital which at least you can fit in your pocket or handbag, if you are serious and are happy with a larger camera, look for something that has a bigger range of aperture settings and maybe consider paying a bit more and getting an SLR.

The camera Olympus SP-590 UZ i have found to be very, very good i can't find any part of the camera that isn't a joy to use,i have been an Olympus user for the past twenty years and have never had any reason not to enjoy using them. The responce from Purely Gadgets was excellent.

My return to photography November 19, 2009 Mr. D. Farber (Manchester England) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Once I retired 10 years ago I got fed up with schlepping a heavy bag with camera, lenses, flash, etcetera, etcetera. I then went to viideography but soon got fed up with that. But now with my Olympus SP 90UZ I've got everything in one camera. At the moment it's a steep learning curve, but I'm getting back to my old love and enjoyment.
