| Customer Reviews: Very good camera March 3, 2010 Mr. J. J. Morris (Bristol, UK) I was toying between 4 and 5 stars for this but in the end I had to go for 4 purely based on the pictures I've taken so far with it. In general the camera is fantastic, it's great 12x zoom function and wide angle lens certainly fit the bill for me, and the resolution is pretty good as well. However, a fair few of my pics come out quite blurred even when I'm holding the camera very steady and my subject isn't moving! The majority of my pics are very good though, and the wide angle lens makes it easy to fit in all you want to into an image.
Recommended, but not perfect.

Brilliant camera to use when you don't want to carry an SLR. It works as a "point and shoot", if that's what you want. The best feature, I have found, is the macro facility; I can't believe how close you can get and the detail is incredible.
A cracking point-and-shooter February 15, 2010 The Fat Monk (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
What a cracking piece of kit for the price.
10.1MP and a Leica lens on the front with a brilliant 12x optical zoom ensures there is no lack of detail in your snaps.
Colour reproduction and exposure seem really rather good for what is essentially a point and shoot camera, and the various (and sometimes rather odd) shooting modes do a very good job of coping with most situations.
You have your usual modes for night, night panorama, snow, sun/beach etc but you also have a 'food' mode and a part mode which invites people you don't know to come and look jolly in your pictures. (Actually, thinking about that with today's social networking functions on phone some people might take that last comment seriously. For clarification it DOES have a party mode, it DOESS NOT invite people into your pictures as far as I know).
The 'inteligent auto' function seems to do a pretty solid job of chosing the best shooting mode for you as well, so you may well only venture into the shooting modes menu occasionaly anyway.
Very well built, the camera feels like it would take a few knocks and the controls are very well set out and do not feel in the least bit flimsy. Again, just what you want for a 'chuck in the bag and carry everywhere' camera.
I'm really, really impressed with this. I looked at a lot of compact cameras before buying this, but know I made the right decision in the end.
Top tip: Try using the 'wrong' shotting mode for a particular scene to get some nice creative effects - this way you can mimic long exposures and things liek that.
GREAT PICS February 10, 2010 M. Edwards 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I booked to go to Italy for Christmas and New Year and I bought this camera to take some memorable pictures. It is a great camera, easy to use for an amateur photographer like me, and it took some wonderful pictures. I am very pleased with my purchase and have recommended it to all my friends.
No Disapointments February 3, 2010 P. Brun (Folkestone Kent) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Previous experience of digital cameras includes a pocket Nikon (3X Zoom) from 8 years ago, a Konica-Minolta "Bridge" type for 6 years and a very recent Samsung WB500 so I have something with which to compare the TZ6. With the earlier cameras, shutter delay was a nuisance but this has not been an issue with the Samsung or the TZ6. I loved the manual zoom of the Minolta which made quick framing easy for sports photography. The motorized zoom in the small cameras is a pain but the TZ6 is no worse than the others. The images from the older Nikon were good but the zoom range was small. Those from the TZ6 are better and are as good as from the much bulkier Minolta. A recent holiday in Egypt tested the camera in lighting conditions from brilliant sun reflected from light coloured stone, dimly lit temple interiors, sunsets and night scenes. The ordinary Auto Setting coped with all of these very well but sunsets were improved using the appropriate "scene" setting. The +/- exposure function was very easy to use and was useful when shooting into the light or through far coach windows. At first I couldn't see a thing in the LCD screen in the bright sun but then I remembered the "screen brightener" setting. This is very quick to access and solved the problem. The "image stabilizer" must work because a high proportion of hand held dimly lit temple interior shots were successful. In contrast to the Samsung, colour recording in poor light is good and image noise much less noticeable. The controls were easy to get used to while the Samsung seemed to have a mind of its own. A downside is that the "Mode Wheel" is easily moved inadvertently- so easily that it soon became a habit to check its position. I am also slightly disapointed with the throw of the flash. I got the camera shortly before a once in a life time holiday so bought a spare battery at 3 x the cost of a Samsung one. I could have saved the money because a battery charge lasted so well.
Am I happy with this camera? Yes. Very.
