I was going to buy a camcorder, but went for this as it has good video capacity for what I want and was a chance to upgrade my old camera. Used it at the Tall Ships Race the day after it arrived. I just set it to auto and shot everything in sight. It is steady as a rock even on long zoom, copes well with difficult lighting and was easy to use. It is taking me a while to get used to no viewfinder, but the screen is bright and clear. The main problem I have is that the video button is too 'handy'. I keep pressing it accidentally when I'm just trying to get a firm hold of the camera. The camera is well built and has a sturdy feel to it, which I like. I haven't had opportunity to try out the video capability yet. Overall, I'm glad I bought this one.

So far I've taken a variety of photo's in differing light conditions - all came out very good. Obviously in low light and at distance the flash is pointless, but with flash set as "OFF" the camera automatically compensated... so with a steady hand good photo's were obtained. I also tested the video feature, which was great.
I definately would recommend this camera to others, it is excellent value for money.

I am an amateur user of cameras but can tell the difference between a photo with good and bad quality. Also I travel a lot and want my camera to be compact but with a good zoom.
Therefore, I was looking for a camera with a good automatic function, picture quality and optical zoom. The Panasonic TZ7 has it all - great zoom, wonderful photos and videos, compact and sturdy enough. I highly recommend it.

I wanted a smaller digital camera which would be easier to carry around than my digital SLR. I was looking for good quality photos, ease of use and the ability to zoom into the picture once it had been taken. The TZ7 has been fantastic and produced amazing results. For such a small(ish) camera, it certainly is big on performance. I really don't have many complaints. The pictures do appear to make people darker (more tanned!) than they really are but apart from that its faultless.
