5 out of 5 stars Excellent Batteries   June 29, 2010

These new type rechargeable batteries (and I use GP Recyko brand because of the good deal that you can get on the 4+2 free packs) have solved two problems for me.

The first was my canon Digital camera. It would display low battery indicator after a couple of days (even without being used) and then stop working very soon after. The older type NiMH batteries I was using had plenty of charge left in them but the lower voltage of them was causing the camera to automatically shut down. These newer type batteries hold a higher voltage for longer and I get 3 months use from them (with regular/frequent, but not heavy use)

My DECT home phones simply stopped working - even with new standard type rechargeables fitted. These newer type of batteries solved the problem.

Although these batteries have a slightly lower mAh capacity than some of the traditonal NiMh batteries, and are slightly dearer, I would not buy anything else now.

Recycle all your other batteries - these will be the only ones you need from now on. You can charge them up and leave them in the draw ready for use as they will not loose their charge like ordinary rechargeables. This makes them great as spares for cameras etc. They also have a very good life when they are being used.

These batteries do retain their charge for a long time, much longer than normal rechargeable batteries. I also think these particular ones with 2 free are very good value for money.

these are much beter than previous generation rechargables they keep charge when left for ages and seem more powerful than higher amperage older batteries as well i highly recommend these

These new technology nimh batteries with very low self drain will meet most battery needs. Unlike standard nimh batteries they generate less heat under high load - high load performance is exceptional. Digital cameras will have much improved battery life. These batteries retain a significant charge over a year instead of declining to unusability like standard rechargeables and can be used for remotes and clocks.

For longest lifetimes, recharge before full discharge is reached- say every six months in a clock or remote, especially if using more than one battery in an appliance- small differences in manufacture can damage ANY battery at low charge when used in series.

Don't leave the batteries unused with a low charge, recharge fully and then leave! Only use one hour (or less) express chargers in an emergency and not regularly. And try not to trickle charge continuously 24 hours a day- give them some time off.

The new technology nimh batteries are sold as having a lower capacity than the old ones, but the high internal drain on the old style batteries means that after a week your new technology batteries will actually have a higher charge left in them.

The low self drain and the longer life span of these batteries may cause some devices to display a low battery warning either too soon or too late, generally high drain devices won't give you much notice, low drain devices too much notice. Something to get used to.

Recommended.
